TEMPE, AZ — Tempe Fire and Rescue crews have recovered the body of a person who reportedly did not resurface from the water at Tempe Town Lake Monday evening.
A Tempe assistant chief told ABC15 crews that someone at a nearby apartment allegedly took a video of what they believed was a man getting in the water just after 4:40 p.m.
Officials say the witness posted the video and 45 minutes later, “realized that person never saw the man get out.”
Crews conducted three different dive operations on Monday and continued again on Tuesday morning.
The man’s body was recovered from the water around 7 a.m. Tuesday. He has been identified as 47-year-old Michael Reyes.
The circumstances around the person’s death are not known. The investigation is ongoing.
